A Little Bird Told Me

Today is Tucker’s 2nd month birthday! That’s just two days shy of nine weeks.

I wanted to talk a little about what he’s been up to; his likes, dislikes, new tricks.

Tucker works his neck and abs with his planks.

We’re working on getting his neck muscles stronger and stronger, and that means LOTS of tummy time. He puts in his time like a champ.

It takes a certain kind of binkie.

When we left the hospital, they gave us two Soothies pacifiers. On a whim, after we had realized that two binkies was not enough, Jason went to CVS and picked out a few extras. He had wanted to mix things up, and thus, we discovered MAM pacifiers. These things have what I can only describe as anti-slip technology. Essentially the surface is textured so as to prevent (to an extent) the thing from falling out of baby’s mouth. And, of all the pacifiers we received as gifts at the baby shower (not very many actually) and the others we picked up, these ones are contoured to fit snug against baby’s mouth. It creates even more suction I guess. The first set we got were ocean themed and Tucker just loves them.

On Thanksgiving, we were on our way to our first outing that wasn’t the doctor, and a rookie parent mistake: we forgot to grab a binkie for the road. Well, Walgreen’s was open (of course) and Jason ran in and picked up another set. I simply told him to get the same kind as the green ones. Ta-dah, success. And this time they were packaged with a handy-dandy microwavable sterilizer to boot. Anyhow, I highly recommend these to anyone in need of binkies.

Tucker is getting used to his swing… he can generally take it or leave it. Sometimes he digs it, while other times he wants nothing to do with it and will let us know. He can sometimes nap in it, but more often than not, he’s just chilling. The cool thing about his swing, is that the seat rotates 90 degrees so he can either rock side -to-side or back-and-forth. Back-and-forth is preferred for napping. The bad (or not so cool) thing about his swing, for us, is that the mobile is fairly stationary. Tucker has a mobile on his bassinet that is mechanized (three little bears rotate in a circle at a constant speed at the touch of a button) and he can’t get enough of it. Amuses the heck out of him.

The bear show is the bomb!

And it must be said; now that we’re KINDA getting the hang of things, the prospect of Tucker’s babydom isn’t as scary. Neither is the prospect of another lil’ one in the future (the distant, like in two or three years, future).

**Question: What is your lil’ one into these days?**
